If you recently signed up with a Network Marketing opportunity, you probably want to turn your attention toward building your downline.

As I have had some experience in this field, I would like to present you with a few tips that will hopefully save you some time and money. It really starts with your perception of what Network Marketing is all about.

Unfortunately, many of the advertisements and promotions that you read from some of these companies are a little misleading, to say the least. They do not always paint a true picture of the realities of Network Marketing.

They are seldom outright dishonest, but reality is not always good sales copy, so they make it look like you can earn a lot of money quickly.

And this is possible if you are an experienced Internet Marketer with a huge list of prospects who will follow you wherever you lead them. Otherwise, you will have to build your downline one step at a time.

This will put off many people, who are looking for quick and easy online riches. Often, they are looking for an internet business because they are in a cash crunch. If you are in that situation, put off your business aspirations until you are in better financial shape. You will just end up spending money that you desperately need for other things right now.

The real purpose of joining a network marketing company like is to achieve a lasting passive income that will eventually replace, or augment, your current job salary. It can also be used as a secure source of retirement income.

Many people have built MLM organizations which pay them $10,000.00 or more per month, over and over again, for years. You can only accomplish this through building a quality downline over a period of time.

Patience is a virtue possessed by many rich and successful people, and you will need it to succeed in your WebProsperity or other network marketing business.

Another common perception is thinking quantity, instead of quality in the downline building process. You don’t want to spend your time and money on mass advertising that produces a lot of sign ups which won’t last very long!

Instead, build a team starting with 2 or 3 quality people who are self-motivated and, preferably, have some experience under their belt.

Concentrate on helping them build their teams with quality people in turn.

By helping them get what they want, you will get what you want, and they will do most of the work for you!

Try to choose targeted advertising. Don’t worry if you ad doesn’t produce 50 sign ups because just one of those quality members is worth more than a hundred that will come in, look around, and leave. 95% of the people who join network marketing opportunities will never lift a finger. Sure, you may make a few bucks while they are there, but you will constantly be replacing them. This is working hard, not smart.

Partly because of the advertising hype that I covered earlier, a lot of people sign up and think that they will make money just by paying for their monthly autoship or product package. They don’t know anything about marketing, and they don’t want to learn or put forth any effort.

The people who succeed in network marketing, or any kind of business, are those who realize that they own their own business and that the responsibility for its success lies on their shoulders. They realize that profits are directly related to the effort put forth to achieve them. Once you realize this and start making things happen, you will often find your sponsor and upline members rushing in to help.

You have made yourself worthy of their time and effort. They often have a lot of people in their organizations, and they only have so much personal time to spend. They will spend it on you, once you show them that you are truly interested in making your business work.

In recap, don’t worry about recruiting hundreds of downline members. Concentrate on 2 or 3 quality people, then help them find 2 or 3 in turn. This will result in a solid foundation for your organization, which will increase your retention rate and allow you to achieve the residual income that you have been hoping for.

If you are a member of a network marketing company, establish communications with your sponsor or other upline member, or respond when they contact you by e-mail or phone. Let them know that you would like to build a quality downline and are willing to do what its takes to reach your goals. They will be glad to assist you.

I checked my Web Prosperity affiliate/referral statistics for the first time today.

Here’s what I have seen:

More than 50% of the paid members in my network have come from outside sources.

By outside sources, I mean that the spillover has account for 16% of the paid members in my network, and the dteam member downlines have accounted for almost 50% of the paid members in the network.

Teamwork is great and spillover is great, too, but what it all comes down to is everyone working together to help each other out.

And the true beauty of this is that we’re only just getting started, with a long, long way to go here

What To Do After You’ve Joined My Web Prosperity Team

I have an interview scheduled with D. Parsons next week on how to promote your MLM program after it has launched and she will explain how she grows her MLM business via blogs (like this one you’re on now) and by phone calls and emails…

MLM is a people-intensive business model, therefore blogs do really well since they allow for comments, questions and feedback…

Now that my WebProsperity team is growing, they’re looking for help getting signups.

Since I have had a subscriber list of readers for years, getting signups is easy for me because I’ve delivered useful products and create that trust relationship.

However, the new team members don’t all have lists to mail to, so they need to get signups on their own if they want to increase their downline and referrals to empower the matrix income.

I created a guide for WebProsperity team members that shows a multi-pronged way to get signups without having to resort to a list. 

The last time I checked, about half of my signups came from emails I sent out and the other half from reading reading this site and other WebProsperityBlogs.
